Has anyone else out there tried to Quite smoking?

I have smoked for 20 years now. Wish I had never started !!!! I have tried to quite several times, more than several, lots !! The gum, I got pills from the doctor,the patches, etc. It is consuming me and my life. The things I would do for a smoke are shameful. My wife does not understand what drives me to smoke and that I can't just turn around and say... I'm done smoking!!. Oh how I wish it would work that way.
